Version 6.3.6

Released on 2026-07-20.

Note

If you are upgrading a cluster, you must be running CrateDB 5.0.0 or higher before you upgrade to 6.3.6.

We recommend that you upgrade to the latest 6.2 release before moving to 6.3.6.

A rolling upgrade from >= 6.2.0 to 6.3.6 is supported. Before upgrading, you should back up your data.

Warning

Tables that were created before CrateDB 5.x will not function with 6.x and must be recreated before moving to 6.x.x.

You can recreate tables using COPY TO and COPY FROM or by inserting the data into a new table.

Fixes

  • Changed swap table and rename table operations to reallocate shards again - reverting the change from 6.3.0. This will cause swap and rename operations to interrupt in-progress snapshots again but solves an issue where creating partitions on a previously swapped table could lead to duplicate index names in the cluster, breaking snapshot functionality until a duplicate partition was deleted again.

  • Fixed an issue that would throw an error when using pg_sleep() function in the SELECT clause.

  • Fixed an issue that caused casts of foreign tables to REGCLASS to incorrectly return 0.
